Their valiant record of heroic deeds stretches back several millennia and is enviable by even some Chapters of more ancient provenance. This Chapter has garnered a reputation as being honourable to their allies and implacable to their foes. Their adopted homeworld, Havenfell, lies near the southern rim of the Imperium, and their mountain-top fortress-monastery takes the form of a mighty Imperial cathedral, it's great spire piercing the clouds. The Blades of the Lion are a 3 rd Founding Loyalist Successor Chapter of the lauded and venerable Ebon Knights, whose lineage hails from the ancient Dark Angels Chapter. They called themselves the Black Rhinos, and were later officially recognised by the High Lords of Terra as their own Chapter. It was not known for several decades what fate befell these ousted Primaris Rhinos or what became of them, however, tales soon emerged of black-clad Primaris resembling the Rhinos.
Tensions rose between the two factions which resulted in a handful of skirmishes breaking out and the eventual expulsion of the small contingent of Primaris Space Marines from Yekna Prime by their elder brethren. After several decades, the lost Rhinos finally returned to their Chapter home world and found themselves effectively replaced by the upstart Primaris. Two hundred Primaris of the Unnumbered Sons bore the lineage of the now believed lost Chapter. They were assigned to replace the recent loss of the Rhinos Chapter during the Ouroborean Predation in 990.M41 following the emergence of the galaxy-spanning warp rift known as the Cicatrix Maledictum. The Black Rhinos are a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter created during the most recent Ultima Founding and comprised entirely of Primaris Space Marines. They hold the belief that eventually, Sanguinius will return and restore the Emperor to his original power, and together the two of them will lead the Imperium to greatness once again. The Angels Vampiric are loyal to the God-Emperor of Mankind, however they have been known to worship their Primarch Sanguinius more so than they worship the Emperor. The highest ranking of these test-subjects, a sergeant by the name Count Orlok took up the position of chapter master of the new chapter. After the experiment was declared a failure, it was decided that instead of purging the subjects of the experiment, a new chapter would be created from the surviving test-subjects. The experiment in question was meant to cure the Blood Angels of the dreaded 'Twin-Flaws' known as the Red Thirst and the Black Rage, however, it went horribly wrong and instead amplified these genetic flaws.
Founded around M34 as the result of a failed secretive experiment. The Angels Vampiric are a non- Codex compliant, fleet-based Successor Chapter of the heroic Blood Angels Space Marine Chapter.
